Still at your water samples with electrodes? Distilled water conducts very little current. None, unless it is exposed to ambient air and picks up CO2 (this happens quite rapidly!). Then, the dissociation of H2CO3 = H+ + HCO3- provides small amounts of ions to carry current. And, or course, if you impose hefty voltages, you can induce electrolysis, which carries the equivalent of current.
