A box with a square base and no top is to be made from a square piece of carboard by cutting in squares from each comer and folding up the sides. The box is to hold 784i * n ^ 3 How big a piece of cardboard is needed?

Cutting 1 square inch from each side of the square cardboard, the square root of 784 is 28, so a 28x28 square x 1 in deep yields a volume of 784 in3 . Then adding the 1 inch at each corner makes a 30x30 in2 piece of cardboard is needed.
