Math Equation Question

If I started with 12 ounces of nuts and 24 ounces of raisins and I woke up with 2 ounces of nuts for every 3 ounces of raisins, is that the same? Or did I get stolen from, and if so, what and how much was stolen?

You went to bed with one ratio, 12 to 24, which is 1 to 2, which is 1/2. You woke up with a different ratio, 2 to 3, which is 2/3. 1/2 does not equal 2/3. Subtract 1/2 from 2/3, which requires a common denominator, like 6. 4/6 - 3/6 = 1/6, the amount stolen.

Subtract 1/2 from 2/3, which requires a common denominator, like 6. 2/3 = 4/6. 1/2 = 3/6. Subtract the numerators. The difference is 1/6, the amount gained.
