Fun Doctor of Music from Yale for all levels of Piano and Singing!
Based on order of operations we must do the items in parenthesis first-
So 20-8= 12
And 4 * 3 = 12
Therefore since 12/12 = 1, the final answer is 1!

We operate the order of PEMDAS: parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. Other than that, we solve any operation from left to right basically.
(4 x 3 = 12) Perform this multiplication first, since both of them are inside the parenthesis. Then, we do the subtraction: 20 - 8= 12. Finally, it will be 12 ÷ 12 = 1.

Yes. The Order of Operations for mathemeatics says to perform arithmetic operations in the following hierarchy (order)
1st: Parenthesis
2nd: Exponents
3rd: Multiplication and/or Division
4th: Addition and/or Subtraction
At each level, if there are multiple operations at that level, you perform them left to right.
So, in this case, we first perform the operations within the parenthesis making the problem 12÷ 12 and, of course 12÷ 12 = 1
