Question

A particle with a charge of +2.0(*10^ ^ -6)C is separated from another charged particle with a charge of-4.0(x10^ ^ -6)C by a distance of 2.0 m. Draw the direction ( towards or away from each other) and the magnitude of electrostatic force between the particles.

The charges have opposite signs so they attract each other. The magnitude of the force is

|F| = k |q₁| |q₂| / d²

|q₁| = 2.0 x 10^-6 C

|q₂| = 4.0 x 10^-6 C

d = 2.0 m

Look up the value of k in your physics book, in units of Nm²/C², and plug all these numbers into the equation for |F|. The result will be in units of newtons (N). By the way, it is Couloumb's law, not Columbus' law.
