A wooden ball of mass 100 gm is suspended by a thread.The horizontal current of force of air blows it to one side such that the thread makes an angle of 30' with verticle find the tension and force of air current

The vertical component of tension must equal to the weight due to balanced force in the y-direction.

Therefore Tcos(30) = 100, T = 100/cos(30) = 200/sqrt(3) approximately 115 N tension

The horizontal component of tension must balance the air current force (F) due to balanced force in the x-direction

Therefore Tsin(30) = F(air current), F = 0.5 T , F = 100/sqrt(3) approximately 58.7 N air current force
