Hi Erika: Sandbars and deltas are both geological structures that are characterized by the deposition of sediment, however, that's about as far as it goes! Sandbars are generally smaller features, measured in 10s or a few 100s of meters, while deltas may be huge, measured in many square miles. Sandbars are often associated with deltas; in other words, sandbars often form in a delta, but not necessarily (you also find them along the coast, far from any rivermouth).
