I might interpret "f^-1" to mean 1/f

Suppose y = x²

Then y^-1 = 1/x²

Or---is it possible that it means the "inverse function"?

eg if y = f(x) = x²

The inverse function would be x = g(y) = ±√y

In either case, just plug in the values to solve--and always graph the functions to visualize
