The rule of thumb is to allow a minimum of 21 days for processing. If you E-filed, and requested a direct-deposit, it usually takes 1-2 weeks to receive said refund. Paper returns, 8-12 weeks (including amended returns) and also keep in mind that sometimes, a taxpayer may file his/her return expecting a refund only to find out that they owe money to other state or federal government agencies, and/or student loans, at which point, they keep the refund and apply it towards such debt. Additionally, they will notify you of such change via U.S. Postal Service. The best way to track it to download the IRS2GO Mobile App. The app allows you to track, request transcripts, and much more.
