Hovercrafts in the desert

Question

so I am not a physics or engineer person but I wanted to ask, would a Zubr-class LCAC be able to go over desert surfaces. Short answer: No

To understand this, do some reading on the basic principle of a hovercraft. I think you will find that it requires a flat surface, and that---based on the fundamentals of how it works--water is effectively flat.
