In triangle EFG the measurement of angle E is four times the measure of angle F. The measure of angle G is 18 degrees less than the measure of angle E. What is the measure of each angle?

Ricky, since you have 3 unknowns, you’ll want 3 equations.

Let m_E be the measure of E.

let m_F be the measure of F

let m_G be the measure of G

What are the equations? The first two sentences of the problem:

m_E = 4m_F

m_G = m_E -14

and third one says the angles in a triangle add up to 180

m_E + m_F + m_G = 180

With these three equations, an algebra student can solve for each of the three measures.
