Put the equation in the format y = mx + b. m is the slope, and any parallel line will have the same slope, and any perpendicular line will have a slope that is the negative reciprocal. Example: the slope of a line is 2. the perpendicular line will have a slope of -1/2
Once you have the slope, use the give point to find b (simply plug in the values for y, x, and m, and solve for b
