P = I.V

Resistance in a circuit with voltage V, and current I is given by

R=V/I

Using substitution now you can write the expression of power in terms of R. One result is

P = I².R

Use Ohm's Law, V = I*R (where V is Volts, I is current and R is Resistance) and P = I*V (where P is Power, I is current, and V is Volts)

P = I*V = I*(I*R) = I²R, (where V = IR replaces V)

or

P = I*V = (V/R)*V = V²/R, (where Ohm's Law rearranged is I = V/R).
