Jack invests $1500 at a certain annual interest rate, and he invests another $2000 at an annual rate that is one-half percent higher.

If he receives a total of $185 interest in 1 year, at what rate is the $1500 invested?

Note the decimal 0.005 = 0.5/100, so Mark's equation is exactly the same as the one I have posted: 1500x + 2000(x+ 1/200) = 185, because 1/100 = 0.01 = 1%. so 1/2 % is 0.005 So the original rate is 5% and the other is 5.5%
