Weight is the force of gravity on an object. Therefore the equation for this is:
F = ma
with a = 9.8 m/s2
To determine the weight of a 70 kg person, we substitute in the values:
Weight = F = 70 kg x 9.8 m/s2 = 686 kg(m)/s2
The unit kg(m)/s2 is also known as a Newton. So the person's weight would be 686 N.
