Probably too late for this answer to your question, but just in case, here's how to solve it:
Step 1: Multiply the 5 times each term in the first parentheses, so 5 times y and then 5 times +1. You get 5y+5.
Step 2: Multiply the +7 times each term in the second parentheses, so 7 times y and 7 times -2. You get 7y-14.
Step 3: Put the two answers together: 5y+5+7y-14.
Step 4: Combine like terms (first put together the terms that have the same variables, then put together any remaining number-only terms): 5y+7y and +5-14. You get 12y-9 as your final answer.
