Since x = width of the page  and the area of the page is 50, the length of the page is 50/x.  

 

Width of printed portion = x - 0.5 - 0.5 = x - 1

Length of printed portion = 50/x - 1 - 1 = 50/x - 2

 

Area of printed portion = A = (x - 1)(50/x - 2)
