Two ways to solve this problem:
Solution 1:
The average speed of the lion is (3.9 + 3.1) / 2 = 3.5 m/s. In 13.5 sec it travels 3.5 * 13.5 = 47.25 m.
Solution 2:
a = Δv / Δt = (3.1 - 3.9) / 13.5 = -0.8 / 13.5 = -0.05926 m / s2
x = V0(t) + (1/2)at2 = t [ V0 + (1/2)at ] = ( 13.5 ) [ ( 3.9 ) + ( 1/2 )( -0.05926 )( 13.5 ) ] = 47.25 m
