a right angle triangle where sides A and B are 30 ft long, how long is side C?

I just need to find an answer to my question as follows:  you have a right angle triangle and 2 sides are a 90 degree are 30ft long, how long is the third side?

OK, I got your answer Mark however because I haven't been in school in 45 yrs, can you explain your answer, 30√2 please, in feet preferably. thanks

I think of the √ (square root) as a container. The only number allowed out are perfect squares.
√1800 = √2·9·100 = √2 · 32 · 102.
The 32 can come out as 3, and the 102 can come out as 10. 3 · 10 = 30.
Since 2 is not a perfect square, it must remain under the radical.
 
√2 ≈ 1.41, so 30√2 ≈ 42.4.
 
The third side is approximately 42.4. feet.
