Only about 3% of the Earths fresh water is found as glaciers and ice caps or ice sheets Since each of these terms refers to large sheets of frozen fresh water while the major distinction seems to be geographical; as glaciers oare land based while ice gaps and ice sheets are predominantly ocean based, this figure presented seems to be overall a reasonable assessment.
