Let's say your 80 average is the OTHER 50% of your grade. You can think of this in numbers in 100. So if 50% of your grade is now an 80, you can think of this as half of 80 points, which is 40. If you get a zero on your test that is 50% of your grade, that would be half of zero, which is still zero. This also means that your grade is half 80 and half 0 (so for a mathematical equation, 1/2*(80 + 0)). If you have an 80 now and make a 0 on a test that is half of your grade, you will have a 40/100 or a grade of 40, which is an F. I hope you don't get a zero on this test!
