Coding help on Google Docs Add-on

So I'm in the midst of trying to learn code (which I'm kind of bad at). I'm trying to code something to alert me when someone edits a shared google doc. I know that there's this google add-on thing where I can just type the code and add it to google docs. I'm in a class about coding at my high school, so it isn't very good, and we have to code something for a project as an add-on to google docs/google slides. So I thought of making an alert for when someone edits my doc, not only for my coding class, but also for another class where this would be really helpful because I use shared google docs a lot in it. I've been using my little knowledge of coding to try to make it work and looking it up. I know it's supposed to be JavaScript but I'm having immense trouble getting it to work. If anyone can code JavaScript and knows how to do this it would be a great help.

I believe the program you need is Code Blocks! "Code Blocks makes it easy to put your code into Google Docs. Simply select some text, click the "Format" button, and it will be formatted with the color theme of your choice." You can choose from a variety of different programming languages to syntax color your text!
