Learn and play with a coach but do not forget to teach yourself or else knowledge from coach wont stick as well. Video taping yourself during the process is just as important. Watch video after lessons as well as side to side with another video of pros playing in slow motion. Videos will surprise you on how you actually look and what you are actually doing.
Furthermore, look for the coach who teaches you multiple ways to hit one shot such as a slice. There are at least three variations of a slice for example. A coach who teaches you different styles to see what works for you or how you enjoy playing tennis. Techniques are not fixed, all the pros have different styles yet they know why and how to perform all others which is what a good coach should be aware of.
I am certified but my experience is of more value.
