Great question! Finding credible sources is extremely important for any kind of research. We don’t want to use sources that may not be factual, right?
Here are some common ways to determine if a source is credible:
- Check for an author! A credible source will almost always have an author listed.
- Look for the date the source was published. A source that was posted the most recently would be more credible, as it would have the most up-to-date information.
- See where your information is coming from. A textbook or a scholarly article would be a more credible source than just a random website or a magazine, for example.
- Speaking of websites, some are certainly more credible than others! A good way to determine this is to look at the domain name of the website. Credible sites usually have the domains .edu or .gov.
I hope this helps!
