Voters added up to 10 more amendments to the Texas Constitution Tuesday. That will bring the total to more than 500. Many are silly. Most are political eye wash, like the amendment to make passing an income tax even more difficult. The chances were remote, anyway.
It's more than 140 years old, but as long as the U.S. Constitution exists we can get by with this flawed document will suffice for our needs. A few years back, they tried to write a new Constitution and voters rejected it. Don't hold your breath hoping for a better result. Just dance with the one who brung you, as Darrell Royal intoned. Like the t.u. coach's running game, it may not be exciting, but it gets the job done.
