While voting would be an obvious way, one problem with voting as an answer is that there are really very few opportunities to vote. We get to vote for the president every four years -- and technically we are voting for electors to vote in the Electoral College. We can vote for senators every six years and members of the House of Representatives every two years. If we include state and local elections, in general, most Americans can only vote, at most, once per year.
There are ways we can participate in the government on a far more regular basis including, but not limited to, protesting, writing letters, volunteering or working for civic organization or campaigns, and, if given the opportunity, to serve on a jury.
