asked 10/17/19find the points of intersection of the graphs of the functions. (round your answers to three decimal places.) f(x) = 0.4x^2 − 1.2x − 1; g(x) = −0.1x^2 + 0.8x + 8.5

0.4x^2-1.2x-1=-0.1x^2+0.8x+8.5
0.5*x^2-2x-9.5=0
x = -b +- sqrt(b^2-4ac) all over 2a
= 2 +- sqrt(4-4*0.5*-9.5)/(2*0.5)
= 2 +- sqrt(23)
= 2 +- 4.7958315233
x = 6.7958315233 or -2.7958315233
0.4 (6.7958315233)^2-1.2(6.7958315233)-1
(6.796, 9.318) is first point found
0.4 (-2.7958315233)^2 -1.2 (-2.7958315233)-1
(-2.796, 5.482) is second point.
Therefore, the answer is (6.796, 9.318) and (-2.796, 5.482)

My apologies, I currently only have a financial calculator so I cannot double check my work. The answers i got were: (6.795,9.319) and (-2.795,5.483). The answers may not be the exact decimals for the "Y" values, but are correct for the "X" values. How to do it... set the equations equal to one another. You are unable to Factor, you will need to use the Quadratic Formula in order to solve for the "X" values. Plug those "X" values back in to your original equations for "f(x)" and "g(x)".10/17/19
