When shopping, opt for items with no sodium/salt added so you can have control over sodium content
ie. Canned vegetables, packaged goods.
When cooking/eating opt for seasoning with lower sodium options such as Pink salt, low sodium seasoned salt, garlic powder, etc
Always make sure to not over season foods such as seasoning water in the pot during a vegetable boil followed with more seasoning during plating.
