Using

where the initial speed, vi = 0 m/s, the acceleration, a = g = 9.81m/s2 [since governed by free fall motion]
Therefore,
s = .5(9.81ms/2)(.4s)2 = 0.78m as the height attained by the basket ball player when she jumped.
