Why was shakespeare important for the world?

I am doing a presentation in school where we got to choose a person who we think is or was important for the world and then we have to explain why so I would like to ask why he is important and what impact he left in the world. I have read some of his works and his writing is truly amazing.

Shakespeare is indeed amazing! If your teacher will allow you to use personal voice (your own individual response), explain exactly what amazes you about his writing. Is it his use of language? If so, what about it? Is it the characters? If so, which characters stand out most to you and why?

In addition to thinking to what themes in his writing are still relevant today, you might consider how he wrote about themes--such as the rights and obligations of kings--that may not be directly relevant but still can be applied to issues today. What is it about his writing that allows us to make those connections from his time to ours?

My advice would be to focus on the works you've read, so you can use specific evidence to support your ideas.

Hi Andreyna, I agree, Shakespeare is a great person to choose for this project! I love his writing as well. So to help you with your question simply, Shakespeare's writing was so impactful in the world that it's still being read today. Why? For so many reasons; his writing ranged from everyday people to the nobility and criticized, analyzed, and held up a mirror to all of them. Nothing was left out. Plus, the plays were original enough and relatable enough to still be interesting in the modern age.

Some extra question you can answer in your presentation are:

1. Which of his works were the most impactful then and now and why?
2. Why do we still relate to certain plays of his? Basically, what themes are the same today as they were back in his time?
3. His use of language was new as well! Why was this so important?
