Let r = radius
Then, height = r - 1
Assuming that the object is a cylinder, we have πr2(r-1) = 48π.
So, r3 - r2 - 48 = 0
By inspection, 4 is a root. Divide out by r - 4 to get: (r - 4)(r2 + 3r + 12) = 0
Since the second factor has only imaginary roots, the only real root is 4.
So, the radius is 4 meters and the height is 3 meters.
