A boy riding a wooden horse on a merry-go-round keeps rotating around the center of the merry-go-round with a constant speed of 2.6 m/s. Are the horse and the boy accelerating?

This is a little bit of a trick question....

The definition of acceleration is any change in velocity. Velocity has both magnitude and direction. When you travel around a circle at a constant linear speed, the direction is constantly changing, and therefor you are accelerating.
