Which is an equation in point-slope form of the line that passes through he points (-4,-1) and (5,7)?
Here are the answer choices...
A. y+4=9/8(x+1)
B. y+1=8/9(x+4)
C. y+1=8/7(x+4)
D. y-1=8/9(x-4)
Slope is calculated by the differences of x1 and x2 and y1 and y2.--> (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) = slope, so
(7 - (-1)) / (5 - (-4)) = 8 / 9, therefore the answer is B or D
Now you need to calculate the the y intercept and redistribute it in the desired format of (y - y1) = m(x - x1),
y - y1 is y - (-1) or y + 1 = 8/9(x - (-4)) = 8/9(x+4), so the answer is B
