Doubling A by adding x to length and width,

480 = (x + 24) * (x + 10)

x² + 34x + 240 = 480

x² + 34x - 240 = 0

(x + 40) * (x - 6) = 0

solution is x = -40 and x = 6

because we look for a positive distance our number is x = 6
