Can you suggest any tips for outlining the US Constitution?

I agree with Matthew K. Additionally, you might use an outline format with each Article as a first-level heading. Each article has a specific focus and addresses different issues in governance (e.g. Article I - Congress, Article 2 - The Executive, etc.).

I would write down the thesis sentences from each paragraph in the preamble. Then write a bullet point that will spark your memory about the meaning and reason for the paragraph. I would then bullet point each amendment.
