As stated above, Since B is between A and C then AB and BC are two segments on the same line.
Therefore, AB+BC=AC.
AB=2y+4 and BC=3y+3 AC=22
We can substitute these equations in for AB and BC
2y+4+3y+3=22
Combine like terms
5y+7=22
Inverse operation to isolate the variable (-7 on both sides)
5y=15
Divide both sides by 5
y=3
