To solve this you have to isolate the variable to one side of the equation.
8t+12 = - 2t+32 Add 2t to both sides of the equation
8t+12+2t = - 2t+32+2t Simplify
10t+12 = 32 Subtract 12 from both sides of the equation
10t+12-12 = 32-12 Simplify
10t=20 Divide both sides by 10
10t/10=20/10 Simplify
t=2
