Advice: I suggest using Web of Science and boolean searching for all of your literature searches. It took me less than a minute to find this very relevant paper from last year (2022). You probably have access to Web of Science through your institution. If not, it's relatively affordable.
If you could only find the 1955 paper, and you've looked through the literature (boolean searches, using Web of Science or Google Scholar, which will give you more results, many irrelevant) and found nothing, then the best thing to do would be to contact the author of the 1955 paper if they're still around. If theirs is the first name on the citation, it's likely that it was written by a graduate student. Professors and P.I.s are usually just as approachable as students, and often thrive when answering questions. There's a great feature on Web of Science to the right called Citation Network. If there are papers that have cited your 1955 paper, they will probably be relevant. Click on that and you'll have more recent papers.

These links may help you. The first one is not free though you may have access through your school. The second can be viewed online and discusses how competition for food does not impact wolves but may impact Lynx (Bobcats) behavior for foraging. https://www.nrcresearchpress.com/doi/abs/10.1139/Z09-143#.XWnvK-hKiU lhttps://www.wolveninnederland.nl/sites/default/files/lit-research-report-2013-03-18-revised.pdf08/31/19
