I migrate existing shapefiles are to move the shapefiles through ArcCataloge by simply copying and pasting. The other method is to use your file explorer and filter the files by the name of the file you want, and drag all those files into the geodatabase folder. It's important that the shapefile is not active in ArcMap as having it active puts a lock on the file.
