Good afternoon! After researching answers to your question, I found a few things.
- The information is difficult to collect because the answer is dependent on the behavior of birds (how often they migrate, if they occupy more than one habitat etc.).
- Is there a specific bird species you wish to look at? Or a certain group of birds?
- I found a few scholarly articles that mention habitat fragmentation (in which the larger habitat gets smaller and smaller due to man-made changes) and bird behavior (reproduction).
- The first, they are specific about the group of birds they are studies (winter waders-- storks, herons, ibises) https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1474-919X.1990.tb01045.x
- The second, birds that respond to habitat fragmentation and extinction (mortality rate, reproduction rate, changing migration patterns) https://esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1890/1051-0761(2002)012%5B0346:EOHFOT%5D2.0.CO%3B2
- The third, birds that migrate and their relationship with habitat quality https://academic.oup.com/condor/article/109/3/535/5152112
I hope any of these three links will assist you. Also, keep in mind the dates of publishing. There may be newer or more updated information out there.
