linear equations and graphs

write a linear equationfor finding the total amount (a) for any given month (m). Bethany has 1,200 in her checking account. She deposits 1,850 per month and spends 2,000 per month. would it be a = 1,200 + 1,850 - 2,000 and and fill in the graph     table  i can graph it after i know what goes in the table

 

 

0 amount ? 1 amount? 2 amonut ? 3 amount? this dont make any sense to me on the

She starts with 1200, and every month she adds 1850 and spends 2000.

 

So first of all, you know that every month she is subtracting a total of 150 (1850 in, 2000 out).

 

So after m months, she would have subtracted 150m.  Since she starts with 1200, the equation would be:

 

a = 1200 - 150m.

 

Do you still need to do a table?  If so, then you can work it out by starting with 1200 in the first row.  Call that "month 0" because that's the amount she would have after 0 months.

 

Then for each month thereafter, subtract 150.  So after month 1 she would have 1050, after month 2 she would have 900, etc.
