There are three categories of French verbs - those ending in - er, -ir, and -re. Many are "regular verbs" and follow a pattern, but there are many "irregular verbs" that have their own unique patterns. A good resource is the book "501 French Verbs." Each page has a verb, in alphabetical order with all the possible tenses and conjugations. This book is worth having.
