Pharmacology is the study of how a drug works including how a drug can interact with particular cells or receptors and exert a biochemical and physiological response in living things. Subcategories within pharmacology include pharmacodynamics (how a drug may affect a biological system) and pharmacokinetics (how a drug may be absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted in a biological system).
