Hi Jac,
A ln(x) graph has a vertical asymptote on the y-axis, it crosses the x-axis at the point (1,0). When the function changes to ln(x+4), all points on the graph shift 4 units to the left:
- Draw a dashed vertical line (asymptote) through the point x = -4.
- Plot the point (-3,0).
- As we move the pencil to the left from (-3,0), it will drop steeply toward negative infinity, getting close to but never touching the asymptote.
- As we move the pencil to the right from (-3,0), it will rise very slowly forever.
