How to find the value of X in this very confusing sequence?

It’s

1, 4, 8, 13, 19, 21, x, 44.

I’ve been thinking about it for so long, I have yet to reach an answer. I know it’s either 35 or 37 because those are the only options, I just don’t know how because there isn’t a common difference.

I agree with Sujeewa. The pattern appears to be adding 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on to the previous number, but it breaks down as soon as you reach 21, x, and 44. If the number sequence was 1, 4, 8, 13, 19, 26, 34, 43, then the pattern would hold for the entire list.
