When Inserting an EQ on a Channel. Do you insert it before or after compression?

It depends , putting an EQ before compression you can make it work like a De-esser, by exxagerating sibilant frequencies around 4-6k, therefore those frequencies will be compressed first acting like a de-esser. Putting it after helps you tame the overall dynamics
