One of the concepts that Tolstoy portrays in Anna Karenina is that of addictive or dependent love - by Anna of Vronsky. It resonates with quite an unhappy (yet long) marriage experienced by Tolstoy himself. In the book, Anna’s obsession with Vronsky leads to her jealousy, and eventually pushes him away, destroying their relationship and Anna’s life in the process.
