You can achieve this without a macro by using field codes and Quick Parts together in Word 2010. I believe the best method is to use a Document Property with a Field Code. This method uses Quick Parts > Document Property > Company and lets you type the company name once and have it populated throughout your document.
In Microsoft Word, Quick Parts can be found on the Insert tab, within the Text group, under the Quick Parts button. Clicking this button reveals options to insert AutoText, Document Properties, Fields, and access the Building Blocks Organizer.
Here are the steps to accomplish this:
- Place your cursor where you want to enter the company name first.
- Go to the Insert tab.
- Click Quick Parts > Document Property > Company.
- Click the placeholder and type the company name (e.g., “Acme Widgets, Inc.”).
- Now, wherever else you want the company name to appear, place your cursor at that point in the document.
- Go to Insert > Quick Parts > Document Property > Company again.
It will insert a field that references the same underlying property. When you change it once, all instances update.
I hope this helps.
