Specific Heat

Question

There are 12 cans of pop in cooler, each can weighs .35kg, and the specific heat for pop is 3800. The temperature in the cooler is 5C.  Someone places a water mellon in the cooler that has a mass of 6.5 kg and 27C. The specific heat of the mellon is 4186.  What is the temperature in the cooler?

The book says it is 19C, which I do not agree.

Assume final temp be T

 

heat loss = heat gain

 

heat gain by pop = 12 x .35 x 3800 (T-5)

 

Heat loss by water mellon = 6.5 x 4186 (27-T)

 

Equate them and find T
