Using your notation v2 for sqrt(2)
(4 - 3v2)•(4 - 3v2)
(16 - 12v2 - 12v2 + 9(2))
16 - 24v2 + 18
34 - 24v2
The key with multiplying square roots is that the terms in front of the square root multiply together and only if both have square roots do the square roots get multiplied together
